Growing up, I was always amazed when we see aircrafts in the skies ( I still gaze to the skies to date).
My most memorable days were the national holidays where the Military Jets did a parade and passed over our neighborhoods.
This was always the highlights of the Jamhuri Day celebrations as while watching the parade on TV we could simultaneously hear the noise outside while seeing these jets on TV as the president saluted them.
This was the point my interest in aviation was sparked and though I did not understand much I always saw the whole aviation to be tied to pilots.
Still I had very minimal information on the requirements and qualifications one needed to be considered a pilot
Growing older, I came to understand a bit more that aviation worked more as a system where different units work together to put the planes in the sky. These people include those who work on the ground to ensure all is a go.
Those who work on getting the planes ready - the technicians and the engineers - those who clear off the plane for takeoff ensuring no incidences occur, the planning by the companies and the many other individual making up the smooth running system.
The industry has been greatly affected by the 2019 Covid virus and has seen a large number of personnel in many large airlines being laid off. This does not mean the death of the industry as far as we can predict, Aviation jobs are not going away.
In fact, it is expected that the industry is likely to be back to its 2019 conditions within 3 or four years and if this comes to pass, we are likely to see an exponential increase in demand as travelling by air becomes cheaper, thus more personnel will be needed as demand rises.
With this little introduction, I would like to welcome you to Aero Engines, here we would like to give you more insight into how some parts of the aviation system works especially in terms of maintenance ,pilots and other crew members.
If you seek to pursue a career in aviation being straight out of school or having a change of thought on a career choice, because of passion, career growth or money, in the coming weeks, we would like to discuss some of the aviation most common career paths one can follow, the basic training required to qualify and the approximate time lines one is likely to take to complete training.
I'm looking forward to the next post.
